Strokes

According to research in "The New England Journal of Medicine," eating bananas as part of a regular diet can cut the risk of death by strokes by as much as 40%. (Hints, if you separate bananas they will not ripen as fast and peeling them, as monkeys do, from the bottom will do aways with the strings that often must be peeled off as well.)

Mr. Bwalo ... Probably he is not known by anyone from the United States and not too many here in Haiti but I know him and am made richer by it. Ever so often he makes his way up the mountain struggling to walk and so blind that he can hardly make out the way but yet he comes. You see he comes to pray for me. He begins by singing a song and then he tells the Lord how much he loves him. After that he prays for my health and strength and for my family back in the U.S. He ends by singing another little song, shakes hands, and departs back down the mountain. He may not be known too much down here but God in Heaven knows him and one day he will have a welcome home reception by the angels. When crowns are passed out up in heaven I'm sure there will be one with the inscription "Good Job Mr. Bwalo."

On bearing fruit

Sponges

"Sponges," they all look the same and you never know what is in them until they are squeezed. People are the same! As life squeezes them,, different things come out: anger, revenge, tears, remorse, greed, untruth, lust or the love of Christ. As you think upon this, ask yourself, when I am squeezed, what comes forth. Now don't give me any of that, "Yeah but" backtalk, just be honest.

Rev. Robert Holmes … There can never be enough said about this man. He is one of the greatest men I have ever met. We used to have some jam sessions with him on the keyboard and me on the guitar. I miss him greatly but he is alive and well in Knoxville, Tennessee where he resides with his wife Kay. A former General Superintendant with the Church of God of Cleveland, Tennessee he is greatly respected by all who know him.

Michelle Obama ... The First Lady of the United States of America. Married to the President and the mother of two girls. During the campaign she said and I quote, "For the first time in my adult life I am proud of my country." unquote. Personally I have been proud of my country many times. Neil Armstrong as he stepped on the moon, the soldiers that have come home from Korea, Vietnam, Iraq and Afghanistan. I was proud when our country would not accept missiles being placed on Cuban soil. I was proud when President Kennedy stood up to Kruschev. I was proud of President Reagan when he stood by the Berlin Wall in Germany and said, "Mr. Gorbachev, tear down this wall. I was proud of the firemen and policemen that gave their lives trying to rescue the people trapped in the attack on the World Trade Center. I was proud as our troops marched into Baghdad and unseated a tyrant. There are many more time that I have been proud of my country but that's just me and what do I know I didn't attend classes at Harvard, just Miami High School in Oklahoma.

Donde se va el dólar de impuestos.

$11 Billion to $22 billion is spent on welfare to illegal aliens each year by state governments.
$2.5 Billion dollars a year is spent on Medicaid for illegal aliens.
$12 Billion dollars a year is spent on primary and secondary school education for children here illegally and they cannot speak a word of English!
$17 Billion dollars a year is spent for education for the American-born children of illegal aliens, known as anchor babies.
$200 Billion dollars a year in suppressed American wages are caused by the illegal aliens.

30% percent of all Federal Prison inmates are illegal aliens.
The illegal aliens in the United States have a crime rate that's two and a half times that of white non-illegal aliens. In particular, their children, are going to make a huge additional crime problem in the US .

Stephanie

Today Stephanie is flying in from Atlanta, Georgia to attend a wedding and spend a few days with us here. She will arrive in Port-au-Prince today and Poppy will go pick her up tomorrow and bring her down here. She would have a friend to bring her but we have some things that need to be taken care of in town so we decided that we would send the truck into town and pick her up at the same time. Everyone is so anxious to see her and I know that she is anxious to see everyone here. Here she is shown with her children Stephen and Jessica.

Barack Hussien Obama … (The way he announced his name while addressing the Arab nation in Cairo. ) He is the President of the United States of America and friend of Hugo Chavez of Venezuela. When asked about bearing the costs for treatment to our injured troops returning from Iraq and Afghanistan he said, "Look, it's an all volunteer force Nobody made these guys go to war. They had to have known and accepted the risks. It was their choice and now they whine about bearing the costs of treatment for injuries they suffered. "I thought these were people who were proud to sacrifice for their country. He is married to a lady who is now for the first time in her adult life “Proud of her Country.” Oh, I almost forgot to list another achievement that he had made since becoming President. No longer is a solder in our military allowed to witness to people about Jesus and absolutely forbidden to pass out Bibles to those who want them in Afghanistan. (The things I have listed here are not political statements as I would say the same thing whether it be a Republican or an Independent President but rather exposing a Commander in Chief of our United States who is no longer following the examples set forth by our past Presidents from George W. Bush all the way back to George Washington.)

Some will be people who I am well acquainted with and there will be people whom I have never met but for some reason, whether it be good or bad, will be center stage. This post will be entitled Spotlight so keep checking the blog to see if you or someone you know might be the next person on Spotlight.

Is it just me?

Ahmadenijad has promised to 'bring down Western foes'. Saying that he will slap us so hard in the face that we will not find our way home...Obama responds by announcing that he plans to decrease our military forces, has cancelled the F-22 Raptor airplane, and has promised the Russians that we will decrease our stockpile of nuclear weapons. He feels the real threat comes from our policemen here at home, ex military personnel, and those who oppose abortion and not from the Islamic extremists. Do you see something wrong here or is it just that I am being paranoid ?

Kids

Many of the kids in the area has never seen a TV. I have some cassettes with cartoons on them and the kids gather in my room, sometimes as many as 25 just to see what them. Since School is out the number often increases. They really have a good time as long as the electric lasts.

Why?

"Only in America .....do they have drive-up ATM machines with Braille lettering. "

Forward this to 10 people

(This was so good I had to run it again)
If you are like me you have been getting a lot of emails that instructed me that if I forward them on to 10 people I would be blessed. If I just made a habit of forwarding emails in order to be blessed I am afraid I would resemble the poor fellow in the photo above. He has been waiting a long time for his blessing. Now if I played the lottery for power ball my chances would improve. They would immediately jump to 1 in 195,249,054. That's one hundred and niney five million, two hundred and forty nine thousand and fifty four. But if you want a sure thing you can find it in Isaiah 1:19 “If you are willing and obedient, you will eat the best from the land” NIV. Of course for a lot of people it is easier to forward emails or play the lottery and just hang on hoping instead of being obedient to what the Lord wants for their lives.

Oooops!

This message was on a church marquee in the United Kingdom. It was so funny I thought I would pass it one to you as we all need a good laugh from time to time.

Goodbye to a beautiful airplane

FA-22 -- America's Most Advanced Fighter Aircraft for the 21st Century! They're made of a titanium and carbon fiber dagger. They're so advanced that if their on-board locator is switched off even our own satellites can lose track of them. Thanks to Mr. Obama and Madame Pelosi's Congress this beautiful plane which was to be our first line of defense in the future was stopped in production and will not be built. In the future we will talk to our enemies like Iran or North Korea and in turn they will not do anything bad or harmful against us. Therefore we won’t need these weapons and we can use that money to provide a better standard of living to those who are not willing to work for it. (These are my personal reflections Bob C. Jones)

Seven People Killed

There was another bad accident yesterday in front of our house. A bus, similar to this one. loaded with people had a blowout and rolled. Seven people were killed and numerous others injured. Some have asked me if the road is bad in front of our house. No, it is one good stretch of blacktop and that is the problem. They drive too fast and when they have a blowout they cannot control the car, truck, or bus they are driving. That has been the cause of the last 3 fatal accidents. It is so bad as there is not medical help for the injured.

Oh no, not another book

When telling folks some of the stories that make up my life as a young man growing up in Oklahoma, the years on the Evangelistic field, and over thirty years on the Mission Field of Haiti I have been asked many times to write a book. Well, at 72 I finally have one ready to go to the publishers. A friend of mine in Oklahoma is getting it published for me and it will soon be available. I think you will be pleasantly surprised as it will include some very interesting facts that will have you shaking your head. Anyway, I will be publishing a few excerpts in my blog from time to time and I would appreciate any comments you might like to make.

Page 1 of the book

Page 1

It has been quite a ride. From the “Green Country” of Eastern Oklahoma to the rugged “Mountains” of Haiti, never once did I ever dream as a child that I would wind up one day being a Missionary. As a boy I had greater plans in mind. I dreamed of being a “Royal Mounted Policeman” just like Sergeant Preston. You see back then we had no television, so we spent hours glued to the radio listening to programs like, “Dick Tracy, Red Ryder, The Shadow, and Jack Armstrong, the all American boy.” My favorite program though was, “Sergeant Preston of the Yukon and his wonder dog King.” I could just see myself chasing bad guys, who had robbed the bank at Dawson, through the snow on a dog sled shouting to my dog team, “On you Huskies, mush mush.” Alas, that was not to be.

My dad’s people had come from the Ozark Mountains of Missouri and were what some people might call Hillbillies. They were fighters and scrapers. On the other hand my mother's people were God fearing, dirt farmers from Western Kansas. I never got to know my Grandpa Chaney as he passed away before I was born. My Grandma Chaney was perhaps the sweetest person I have ever known. She had nothing but good to say about anyone. Her life was hard, as she raised five (5) girls and a boy on a farm; which she took care of by herself. She plowed the fields, raised crops, and then raised all of her children to know the Lord. I remember my mother telling me about the fact that her folks came to Kansas from Ohio in a covered wagon. My Grandma Chaney was born in Western Kansas where they lived until they were wiped out by a prairie fire. I remember her telling about returning from church to find everything they had destroyed. She said that their big hogs were laying there roasted by the intense heat of the fire. They just turned the wagon around and went to Oklahoma.

My Grandma Chaney used to tell of her family losing an older brother to some renegade Indians on the Santa Fe Trail. He had been driving a freight wagon hauling supplies to Santa Fe, New Mexico. My Grandma Chaney’s maiden name was Anderson and her father fought in the battle of “Pea Ridge”, Arkansas; which was a huge defeat for the South. I remember them telling of how during that battle my great Grandpa Anderson had killed a man in self defense. He was wounded with a mini ball which busted one of his knees and he suffered with that for the rest of his life.

My Grandpa Jones used to talk about the “James Brothers” coming to their area. I remember him telling about one elderly lady who had lost her husband and both sons in the civil war. He said that she owed some (end of page 1 of 96)

Deep thoughts

"No matter where in the whole wide world you go you will always be there."

All I need.

This is my room. It is 7' x14' and I have a bed my nightstand, my desk and computer and about everything else I need. I even have a 110 V A/C that has been working real fine since we have electricity. This is where I spend my days and nights and I am totally happy and at peace here. I haven't been to town, a drug store, a super market and not even Wal Marts for three years now. I am contented though. Why?, because this is the place that God has provided for me and it is all I need. If you are in God's will you will be contented, happy, and at peace. Oh, by the way those plants you see are my Jalapeno Peppers.

Wake up America

This may be the most important thing you as an American will ever hear. If you don't listen and act you cannot say you were never warned. Bob Basso author of "Common Sense" plays the role of Thomas Paine to ignite the fire of change in America. Patriotism and Pride for America led Thomas Paine to help take back America! You must click on this address and listen.

It's time to wake up American.

An update

A couple of weeks ago I asked that everyone pray for a brother in our church who had a prostate condition and was suffering terribly. After prayer that night he was able to pee pee but was not able to any more. Of course they do not have the facilities to treat something like this at the stage he was in. He passed away last night at 10:30 p.m.. Thanks so much for your prayers.

What God can do.

This morning I was thinking back to a time when we first came to Fond Doux. It was a stronghold of Voodoo. Mr. Lavey, and his daughter Melannie, shown here were heavily involved in the practice as Mr. Lavey was a high priest. One Sunday morning he made his way to the altar and give his life to the Lord. When asked what made him do it he replied, "I came to the realization that my Gods were not doing anything for me." He became a very good Christian and was always the first one to church with his Bible under his arm. Later he went to be with the Lord. This picture was taken after they had been baptised in water. Now his family is living for the Lord.

I never thought of that before

Message for this time

Rev. Ross Collette, who has been a friend of mine for many years, sent this message out and it was so pertinent to this time I wanted to share it with you.

With the nation and the world in a state of economic distress, one of the number one prayer requests I receive is for finances. Many are saying things have never been so bad, this nation is in big trouble and is going to fall. Whether or not this nation falls, these things I know to be true: There have been worse times, in this country and in the history of this world. The other thing I know for sure is those who put their trust in the Lord are never forsaken. That the Word of the Lord is true, and God has always been able to bless and take care of his people no matter where they were or the circumstances surrounding them. GOD IS ABLE! There is nothing too hard for God, so "FEAR NOT, STAND STILL, AND SEE THE SALVATION OF THE LORD!"

While many think the devil is control, I believe GOD IS IN CONTROL. Many times throughout the Old Testament, God brought about circumstances to turn the hearts of men back onto him, and God always took care of and kept those whose hearts never turned from Him. Just as God kept Daniel, God will keep you.

I want to build you up and encourage you in the Lord. I want to steer your focus away from circumstances and get you to focus on Jesus. Just as Peter walked on the water because he focused on the word of Jesus, but began to sink when he focused on the wind and the waves. Until he cried out to the Lord, "Save me". Of course Jesus did save Peter, and said "O thou of little faith, wherefore didst thou doubt?"

Our God is awesome and none to compare him to. Never ever doubt that God can and will take care of you!

Rev. Ross Collette

Wilson's better

Because of them

It is because of the sacrifice of young men and women like these and those like them over the years that make it possible for you to have that "backyard barbecue" today. Never forget that without them you might be speaking another language. God Bless our young men and women of all the armed forces of the United States of America. It makes me very upset to hear some of the talking heads on MSNBC NBC CBS ABC and CNN and even some members of our government speak as if they are the problem and not the solution. GOD BLESS AMERICA

Little Wilson is sick

Little Wilson is sick tonight. He has had high fever all day. He cried so much yesterday when everyone left and was feeling bad but whatever it is has turned into fever. It seems like when people come into his life and don't stay it really affects him. Pehaps losing his mother and father had something to do with it. Just pray for him if you would.

Back to U.C.L.A.

The group left this morning. They had a wonderful two weeks with the kids and the young people of our home. There were plenty of hugs and tears as they departed for the airport for there had been many friendships made during their visit. .
