Seed Corn

Mayimoulin, or cornmeal, is one of the staples of the Haitian diet. They will have it many times during the week either with a bean sauce or the beans cooked in it. Every little patch of land is utilized to raise corn. This picture shows how they store the seed corn. It is stored this way to keep the rats from eating it. It hangs in a tree until they are ready to plant a new crop.
